About David
David Katz earned his Juris Doctor from Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law in 2000. He completed his legal studies at a time of change in the profession, and entered practice as the new century began. The degree established the foundation for a career in private practice that now spans more than two decades.
His law school years were marked by the rigorous study typical of ABA-accredited programs. He moved from classroom theory to courtroom procedure and client counseling, then into day-to-day practice. Those first years of practice helped shape how he approaches client matters and case management today.
Since completing his formal education, Katz has worked in private practice. He is associated with Katz & Phillips, P.A., a firm whose name reflects his role there. Over the years he has handled client work that required both courtroom preparation and negotiated resolution. He has seen cases through discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation, and he has advised clients on strategy and risk.
Colleagues describe Katz as methodical in his preparation. He favors clear timelines, careful document review, and plainspoken explanations for clients. He balances the technical aspects of lawyering with the practical need to move matters forward. That mix of planning and pragmatism has been a consistent feature of his work.
Katz’s experience spans the practical tasks of running client matters and the administrative duties of firm practice. He has managed teams, coordinated expert testimony, and overseen filings in multiple venues. Those responsibilities require attention to procedure as much as they do to substantive law, and he has built routines to keep complex matters on track.
Outside of casework, Katz has maintained ties to the professional community. He keeps current on changes in statutes and court rules that affect daily practice. He also mentors younger lawyers at his firm, offering guidance on writing, courtroom demeanor, and client communication.
In 2026, Katz continues to practice at Katz & Phillips, P.A. He maintains a private practice there, handling a broad mix of matters for individual and business clients.
