About David
David Katz built a steady legal career after completing his law degree in the early 1980s. He earned a J.D. from New England Law | Boston in 1983 and earlier studied American Studies at Brandeis University, where he received his undergraduate degree. Those academic steps set the stage for a lifetime in private practice and community involvement.
He began his professional work the same year he finished law school, joining Roberts, Newman and Katz, P.A. as an associate in 1983. That first position was followed by a move in 1991 to Shane and Paolillo, P.C., where he served as a member of the firm. In 1999 he took on an of counsel role at Seegel, Lipshutz and Wilchins, LLP. In 2002 he became managing partner at Katz Law Group, P.C., a role he still holds.
Katz is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. He has been a member of the Massachusetts State Bar since 1983. His career reflects steady advancement through private law firms and the assumption of firm leadership responsibilities.
Outside the office he has maintained long-term ties to local animal welfare organizations. He has been a contributor to BayPath Animal Society since 1999 and joined the board of the Metrowest Humane Society in 2011. These activities have been a consistent part of his public profile alongside his legal work.
Colleagues and clients have known him for pragmatic case management and an emphasis on practical solutions. Over decades of practice he has handled matters that required appearances in state courts and at the federal appellate level. His experience includes roles ranging from associate to of counsel and finally to managing partner, giving him familiarity with both day-to-day casework and law firm management.
Today he runs Katz Law Group, P.C., overseeing the firm’s operations and legal work. He practices in Massachusetts and continues to take cases that reach the First Circuit. His current practice focuses on serving clients through firm-based representation and appellate work.
