About David

David Johnson studied economics at Brigham Young University, earning a B.S. in 1998. He returned to the Pacific Northwest for law school and received his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law in 2012, where he concentrated in business law. The combination of a business undergraduate degree and a formal legal education shaped an early interest in disputes that sit at the intersection of commerce and regulation.

His career began outside the courtroom. In 2000 he joined BancInsure as a regional sales manager, a role that required explaining complex insurance products to financial institutions. He moved into banking operations in 2007, serving as vice president at Willamette Valley Bank. Those years in the financial sector provided practical experience in credit, regulatory compliance and transactional relationships. They also offered a behind-the-scenes view of how banks and insurers handle risk and dispute resolution.

Johnson shifted to legal practice in 2009 when he took a lawyer position at Olsen, Olsen & Daines. That step marked the transition from advising commercial clients to representing them. He later joined Pancic Law in 2016, where he continued to develop courtroom and client-advocacy skills. In 2017 he opened his own firm, The Law Office of David Johnson. Running a solo practice has required him to combine litigation work with the business demands of managing a firm.

He maintains professional ties across the region. He holds membership in the Washington State Bar and is a current member of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association. Those affiliations reflect an ongoing engagement with peers and continuing education in trial practice and civil procedure.

Johnson’s background in banking and insurance informs the types of matters he accepts. He handles business disputes that arise from contractual relationships, insurance coverage questions, and related civil litigation. His law school training in business law complements the practical knowledge gained during his years in finance and sales.

Colleagues and clients often note that his practice reflects a practical approach to problem solving. He aims to assess legal exposure, cost trade-offs and likely outcomes, and then advise clients on how to proceed. He balances written advocacy with in-person negotiations and courtroom appearances when cases require them.

He is licensed to practice in Oregon and operates his firm from its established office. He now manages a solo practice focused on business and insurance-related disputes and general civil litigation in Oregon.
