About David J.
David J. MacMain built a career that moved steadily from firm associate to founder. He has spent decades in civil litigation and defense work, arguing cases in state and federal courts and overseeing teams of lawyers on complex matters. He is a founding partner of The MacMain Law Group and maintains an office in Malvern, Pennsylvania.
MacMain began his academic path in criminal justice. He earned a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He then went on to Temple University Beasley School of Law, where he earned his J.D. Those years shaped his early interest in court practice and litigation strategy.
His first professional steps included a legal clerkship at Montgomery McCracken. He stayed on there as an associate and rose to partner in 1997. The partner role reflected a growing practice and a deeper engagement in trial and appellate work. In 2009 he joined Lamb McErlane as a partner, expanding his experience across different firm environments and client needs.
In 2013 MacMain took the next step and founded The MacMain Law Group. The firm offered him a platform to lead cases and to build a team tailored to his litigation approach. Over the years he has handled matters in both state and federal venues. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and the United States Supreme Court, and he holds admissions in the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third and Second Circuits. He is also admitted in multiple federal district courts, including the Eastern District of Michigan and the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Pennsylvania.
MacMain’s professional affiliations reflect his courtroom work. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute and the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel. Those memberships align with a practice that frequently addresses defense-side litigation and representation of corporate clients in contested matters.
Colleagues describe him as deliberate in court and pragmatic in client counseling. He has overseen litigation strategies from initial pleadings through appeals. He keeps an office in Malvern where he meets clients and prepares for trial. His practice concentrates on civil defense and litigation matters.
