About David
David Gotzh graduated from Capital University Law School in 2005. He entered the profession at a time when appellate practice was becoming more specialized. His early training at law school included appellate writing and oral argument preparation, and that foundation shows in the path his career has taken.
After law school he began building a practice that led to the creation of his own office by 2009. The Law Office of David Gotzh was an early base for appellate and trial-level work. Over the next decade he handled appeals and related motions, filing briefs and arguing in courts where procedural precision matters as much as substantive law.
In 2018 he joined the Appellate Lawyers Association. That membership placed him among practitioners who concentrate on appellate procedure, brief-writing technique and argument strategy. It also aligned him with lawyers who regularly appear in state and federal appellate courts. His credentials list admissions in Illinois and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, which frames the geographic reach of his appellate practice.
In 2022 he began work at Midwest Appeals LLC. The move signaled a shift toward a practice structured around appeals. At Midwest Appeals he has been part of a team that prepares appellate briefs, handles record requests and manages oral-argument logistics. Work at that level often requires close coordination with trial counsel and careful review of trial records. He has handled matters that required strict attention to appellate standards of review and briefing deadlines.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in his preparation. He favors concise briefing and clear argument lines. His professional activities include continuing legal education events and association work tied to appellate practice. Those activities help keep him current on procedural developments and recent appellate decisions within the Seventh Circuit.
He maintains an active practice in Illinois appellate matters and files in the Seventh Circuit. That practice involves drafting briefs, filing motions and presenting oral arguments when cases proceed to argument. He also consults on preservation issues at the trial level to prepare cases for potential appeal.
He currently practices at Midwest Appeals LLC, handling appellate matters in Illinois and the Seventh Circuit.
