About David G.
David G. Katona earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from Wake Forest University in 1997. He remained in the Washington area for graduate study, completing both a Master of Arts in International Affairs at American University’s School of International Service and a Juris Doctor at American University Washington College of Law in 2000. The combination of law and international affairs shaped the early contours of his career. It gave him tools to handle cases that touch on cross-border issues and regulatory complexity.
He began his legal career immediately after law school. In 2000 he joined Susie Kim & Associates as a lawyer. Four years later he moved to Hodgson Russ, where he continued to develop practical litigation and client-handling skills. Those early roles provided experience in firm practice and courtroom procedure, and they set the stage for his next professional step.
In 2005 he became a partner at Katona & Mir LLP. That role expanded his responsibilities beyond casework. He took on firm management duties and helped shape firm strategy while maintaining a caseload. In 2020 he left to found Katona & Associates PLLC and now serves as the firm’s founder. He is licensed to practice law in New York. He is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the New York City Bar Association, memberships that align with the kinds of matters he handles.
Colleagues and clients encounter an attorney whose training spans business, international affairs and law. That background informs his approach to complex immigration and regulatory problems. At Katona & Associates PLLC he manages cases that involve immigration questions, administrative filings and client advocacy before governmental bodies. He maintains an active practice in New York and continues to work on matters that connect legal strategy with international and administrative issues. His current practice concentrates on immigration matters at Katona & Associates PLLC.
