About David G
David G Gray earned his undergraduate degree in history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, receiving a B.A. in 1969. He continued at the University of North Carolina School of Law and completed his J.D. in 1972. Those years bookend a long connection to the state university system and to legal training in North Carolina.
He began a legal career that has stretched across decades in North Carolina. Over that time Gray developed concentration in insolvency and debtor-creditor issues. He is licensed to practice in North Carolina and holds Board Certification as a Specialist in Bankruptcy Law from the North Carolina State Bar. That certification marks a defined area of professional qualification rather than a general credential.
Gray’s work has included representation of individual debtors, business reorganizations, and matters involving creditors’ rights. He has handled adversary proceedings, negotiated plans and agreements, and worked on contested matters in bankruptcy court. His approach is pragmatic. He emphasizes clarity in pleading and steadiness in courtroom practice. He also advises clients on the procedural and tactical choices inherent in bankruptcy cases.
Throughout his career Gray has been engaged in the local legal community. He maintains memberships in professional organizations related to his practice and contributes to the day-to-day functioning of the bar in his jurisdiction. Colleagues describe him as experienced in the mechanics of bankruptcy practice and familiar with the rules and procedures that govern federal insolvency proceedings.
Today he practices at Westall, Gray & Connolly, P.A., where he continues to handle bankruptcy-related work for a mix of individuals and business clients. His current practice centers on bankruptcy law, including representation of debtors and creditors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 matters and related litigation in federal court.
