About David
David Fox built his professional foundation at two East Coast schools before returning to California to begin a legal career that blends public service and trial work. He earned a B.A. in political science from Emory University in 2002 and completed his J.D. at the University of San Diego School of Law in 2007, where he gained early exposure to federal courts.
His first positions out of law school were judicial and appellate externships. In 2007 he served as a student judicial extern for Judge Margaret McKeown of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and he clerked that same year for Judge Janis L. Sammartino of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California. Those placements placed him inside federal litigation from the outset and informed the next steps in his career.
In 2008 he spent time at Cooley Godward Kronish LLP. Two years later he joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of California, working in the Criminal Division as an Assistant U.S. Lawyer in 2010. That role gave him courtroom experience on the prosecution side and familiarity with federal procedures and trial practice.
By 2012 he had moved to private practice as a senior trial lawyer at Gomez Trial Lawyers in San Diego. That position emphasized hands-on trial preparation and courtroom advocacy. Across public and private roles he has repeatedly returned to jury work and litigation, building practical familiarity with trial strategy and case management.
Outside the courtroom he remains active in local and national legal circles. He is a member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, the Consumer Lawyers of San Diego, the Federal Bar Association and the Lawyers Club. He also serves on the University of San Diego Alumni Board and Board of Directors, maintaining ties to the law school and the broader alumni community.
Fox practices in California and operates from his own firm, Fox Law, APC. His background combines federal clerkships, prosecutorial experience and trial work at a civil litigation firm. That mix informs how he evaluates cases and prepares for trial, whether in federal or state court.
He continues to accept matters through Fox Law, APC and focuses his practice on litigation arising in California courts.
