About David F.
David F. Stern grew up interested in numbers and rules. He turned that curiosity toward finance at the University of Delaware, earning a B.S. in Finance in 1997. He then moved into the law and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2000.
His career centers on practice in Pennsylvania. He is the founding partner of Stern & Cohen, a firm he helped establish and shape. Over the years he has built a practice that reflects both courtroom work and case preparation. He handles pleadings, discovery and the daily decisions that shape litigation trajectories.
Stern is an active member of the professional bar community in the state. He belongs to the Pennsylvania State Bar and is involved with the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association of Pennsylvania. He also volunteers for programs that serve low-income clients. Within the Pennsylvania Association for Justice he serves as Section Chair of the Workers Compensation Section. That leadership role places him among peers who write, speak and set priorities for how workers’ compensation issues are addressed within the association.
People who work with Stern describe a lawyer who prepares thoroughly for trial. He participates in trial-focused groups and in section activities that require a detailed grasp of administrative rules and evidence. That background informs how he evaluates cases, advises clients and approaches hearings before workers’ compensation judges and other tribunals. He has experience in courtroom procedure, expert witness preparation and appellate matters related to workplace injury claims.
Outside of court calendars and association calendars, Stern’s volunteer work for the Indigent Program connects his practice to community needs. He balances the demands of running a firm with continuing legal education and association responsibilities. He remains engaged with colleagues across Pennsylvania through professional organizations and section work.
He practices law in Pennsylvania and is a founding partner of Stern & Cohen. He currently focuses his practice on workers’ compensation and related trial litigation in Pennsylvania.
