About David
David Duncan earned his law degree from The George Washington University Law School in 2003. He had previously completed a bachelor’s degree in political science at the College of the Holy Cross in 1995. Those years framed his entry into the legal profession and shaped his approach to litigation and client work.
After law school, Duncan built a practice grounded in courtroom procedure and client advocacy. He joined professional groups that align with trial work and consumer representation. Since 2013 he has held memberships in the Alameda-Contra Costa Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice and Consumer Lawyers of California. Those memberships have kept him connected to peers who handle civil litigation and consumer protection matters.
Duncan’s career has unfolded steadily rather than through headline-grabbing moves. He developed experience handling cases that require an understanding of both legal detail and the dynamics of trial. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and direct when presenting them, preferring clear argument to flourish.
At the same time, Duncan has invested time in bar and trial communities. His association memberships have provided access to continuing legal education, trial practice resources and peer networks. He has used those resources in day-to-day practice, particularly when preparing for depositions, motion work and court appearances. The emphasis in that work is practical: prepare facts, test theories, and make the case in the forum that is most appropriate for the client.
Duncan operates out of the Duncan Law Office. He handles matters that fall within civil litigation, frequently representing consumers and plaintiffs in disputes where trial readiness is essential. His approach is straightforward and procedural. He focuses on developing a record, assessing settlement opportunities, and, when necessary, taking cases to trial.
Outside the courtroom, Duncan’s background in political science and law informs how he frames legal issues. He aims to make complex legal rules accessible to clients so they can make informed decisions. He continues to engage with trial lawyer organizations and uses those connections to stay current on evolving litigation strategies and case law.
He practices at Duncan Law Office and focuses his current work on civil litigation and consumer representation.
