About David
David Caveda is a Tampa-based attorney whose career spans several decades of practice in Florida. He earned his J.D. from the University of Florida College of Law in 1988 after completing a B.A. in political science at the University of South Florida in 1983. The combination of a state education and years in practice has shaped his approach to family law matters.
He moved from academic study into the legal profession at a time when the practice of family law was changing. After law school he began practicing in Florida and has maintained his license there. That continuity has allowed him to build a practice that attends to both routine and complex aspects of domestic relations.
In 2008 Caveda established Caveda Law Office, P.A., a firm he has led since its founding. The office is located in Tampa and has handled a range of family law matters. Over the years the firm has provided representation to clients in divorce proceedings, custody disputes, and related matters arising under Florida law.
His daily work covers divorce, child custody and visitation, property division, and support matters. He represents clients in both contested and uncontested cases. He also handles hearings and trials when disputes move beyond negotiation and require court intervention.
Caveda’s practice includes alternative dispute processes as well as litigation. He prepares settlement agreements and represents clients in mediation and negotiated resolutions when those options are appropriate. When matters cannot be resolved, he pursues courtroom remedies and advocates for clients before Florida courts.
Colleagues and clients describe him as a steady presence in proceedings that are often stressful. He emphasizes practical options, explains procedural steps, and works to set expectations about timelines and likely outcomes. That straightforward approach guides his interactions from initial consultation through final orders.
Outside the courtroom he remains connected to developments in Florida family law through continuing education and regular practice. He keeps current on statutory changes and appellate decisions that affect how local courts handle custody, support and division of assets. He currently focuses his practice on divorce and family law in Tampa.
