About David C.

David C. Andersen has spent more than four decades in the practice of law in Michigan. He began in the mid-1970s as a paralegal and law clerk and steadily moved into roles of greater responsibility. His career traces a steady climb through small firm practice to leading his own firm.

He earned a Bachelor of Science from Grand Valley State University in 1976, where he studied administrative law and environmental studies. He then completed his Juris Doctor at Wayne State University Law School in 1979. Those academic credentials set the stage for a career rooted in Michigan’s trial and bankruptcy courts.

Andersen’s early professional years were spent at Dale Sprik & Associates, where he worked as a paralegal and law clerk beginning in 1975 and became a staff lawyer in 1979. In 1981 he helped form Sprik & Andersen, PC, serving as a shareholder and officer. By 1994 he had established David Andersen & Associates, P.C., serving as president and principal. He is listed as a partner of that firm as of 2015, a role that reflects his ongoing leadership within the practice.

He is admitted to practice before the Michigan courts and has credentials to appear before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He also holds board certification in consumer bankruptcy from the American Board of Certification, a credential that recognizes expertise in that area of law.

Andersen’s caseload has centered on consumer bankruptcy matters for much of his career. He represents debtors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 proceedings, handles adversary proceedings, and appears in contested hearings. His work includes counseling clients through claims resolution, negotiating with creditors, and overseeing the procedural elements of bankruptcy filings. He also handles related litigation and appeals when cases proceed beyond the initial bankruptcy court docket.

Across decades of practice, Andersen has balanced courtroom work and client counseling. His offices include a main location supported by satellite offices in Kalamazoo, Muskegon, Lansing, and Big Rapids. That geographic presence allows him to serve clients across several Michigan communities.

Today he continues to practice law through David Andersen & Associates, P.C., where his work remains concentrated on consumer bankruptcy and debtor representation.
