About David
David Beavans built a legal path that crosses business studies and courtroom work. He earned his law degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2005 after completing graduate studies at The George Washington University in the early 1990s. That mix of business and law informs how he approaches cases and counsel.
He began practicing in California and later opened his own firm in 2009. The Law Offices of David C. Beavans, APC reflects years of private practice experience. Before stepping into firm ownership, he accumulated time in different roles that prepared him to manage both client work and office operations.
In 2016 he returned to the classroom as an adjunct professor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, teaching federal civil procedure and family law in the graduate program on a part-time basis. Students said he brought practical context to procedural rules and courtroom strategy. His teaching role complemented ongoing casework and provided another outlet for explaining complex legal processes in plain terms.
Beavans holds certification as a Family Law Specialist from the State Bar of California. That credential marks additional study and peer review in family law practice. Colleagues and local bar organizations list him among practitioners active in the San Diego legal community. His memberships include the San Diego County Bar Association and the San Diego Family Law Bar Association. He has also served on the board of the Thomas Jefferson Alumni Association and, since 2014, on the board of directors for The Baras Foundation.
Running a small firm requires attention to both substantive law and client management. Beavans handles family law matters and related civil litigation. He often deals with contested custody issues, property division, and support calculations. He pairs courtroom preparation with negotiation, aiming to move cases toward resolution when possible.
Clients and peers describe his practice as grounded and practical. He keeps files organized and courtroom-ready. He relies on experience in federal procedure when federal questions arise during family-related litigation. Outside the office he has maintained ties to alumni activities and nonprofit governance in San Diego.
He continues to accept cases from the San Diego area and beyond. He splits time between client representation and teaching engagements, while maintaining active membership in the State Bar of California. He currently practices family law and related civil litigation matters.
