About David A.
David A. Cincotta built a legal career that moves between courtrooms, agency offices and his own practice. He earned a B.S. in Business Management from Oklahoma State University in 2002, with a minor in International Business. He later completed a J.D. at Oklahoma City University School of Law, receiving his degree in 2007.
He began working in the Oklahoma County court system early. In 2003 he served as a deputy court clerk. During law school he took on a licensed legal internship in the Office of the Oklahoma County District Attorney. After graduation he joined that same office as an assistant district attorney in 2007. He also participated on the District Attorneys Council Legislative Committee from 2010 to 2013, taking part in discussions about criminal justice policy and statutory change.
Cincotta moved from prosecution into agency work in 2014 when he became general counsel for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. That role put him inside the operations of a large state agency. He handled legal issues tied to corrections policy, personnel matters and litigation. In 2015 he accepted a position on a Dispute Resolution Advisory Board, a role that reflected ongoing interest in alternative processes for resolving contested matters.
In 2019 he launched a private practice, Cincotta Law Office PLLC. The firm represents clients in matters that draw on his prior public-sector experience. Memberships with criminal defense organizations followed soon after. Since 2020 he has been listed as a member of the Oklahoma County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Oklahoma County Bar Association. He also joined the NW OKC Rotary in 2020 and the Oklahoma County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association in 2021.
Cincotta is admitted to practice in Oklahoma and in several federal courts. His federal admissions include the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Oklahoma and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. That federal experience complements his background as a prosecutor and agency counsel, and informs his approach to motions, hearings and appeals.
Colleagues and clients see a lawyer who has worked on both sides of criminal cases and inside state government. He balances courtroom experience with agency-level practice and board work. He currently maintains a private practice at Cincotta Law Office PLLC, where he focuses on criminal defense and litigation in state and federal courts.
