About Darrell (

Darrell ( Ringer has a long record of professional service that begins in the sciences and moves through business into law. He earned a B.S. in Physics from West Virginia University in 1966, then completed an MBA in Accounting at the University of North Dakota in 1972. He returned to West Virginia for his J.D., graduating from West Virginia University in 1975. That blend of technical and financial training informs much of his career.

Early years in practice are not documented here, but his later professional life is marked by leadership in bar organizations and steady work in both state and federal courts. He is admitted to practice in West Virginia and in the federal courts that serve the region: the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Northern District of West Virginia, and the Western District of Pennsylvania. Those admissions enabled him to handle cases at trial and on appeal across state and federal forums.

Colleagues and local lawyers have seen him take on organizational work as well as casework. He served on the Board of Governors of the West Virginia State Bar from 1994 to 1997. He then moved through the bar leadership ranks: vice president of the West Virginia State Bar in 1997–1998, president-elect in 1998–1999, and president in 1999–2000. He later led his county bar, serving as president of the Monongalia County Bar Association from 2001 to 2002. Earlier he was involved with the West Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and sat on its Board of Governors from 1986 to 1992.

That sequence shows a lawyer comfortable in both governance and practice. His accounting background and physics degree suggest an aptitude for technical and financial issues in litigation. Over the years he has handled matters that required appearances in federal districts and the Fourth Circuit, reflecting a practice that spans trial and appellate work.

He has balanced professional association duties with courtroom obligations. The bar leadership roles placed him in positions that shaped policy and administration for the bar at both county and state levels. Those roles came during a period of active involvement in bar governance throughout the 1990s and into the early 2000s.

As of 2026 he continues to maintain an active practice, regularly appearing in West Virginia courts and in the federal venues where he is admitted. His current practice focuses on trial and appellate work in state and federal courts.
