About Daniel

Daniel Velton practices employment and civil litigation in California and before the Ninth Circuit. He combines courtroom experience with years spent in firm practice. Colleagues describe him as methodical; he favors careful preparation over theatrics.

Velton earned his B.A. in Development Studies from the University of California, Berkeley in 2004. He went on to law school at Santa Clara University, receiving his J.D. in 2009. Those academic years shaped his approach to complex fact patterns and legal research, and supplied the foundation for his later litigation work.

He began his career at Littler Mendelson, joining the firm as a law clerk in 2008. After law school he stayed on as an associate in 2009. Those early years gave him exposure to high-volume employment matters and the procedural demands of defense-side practice. He handled discovery, motion practice and client counseling under the supervision of experienced trial lawyers.

In 2011 he became a partner at Velton Zegelman. At that firm he expanded his courtroom work and took on trial responsibilities. His docket has included contested motions, bench and jury work, and appellate filings in the Ninth Circuit. He has maintained an active litigation practice since becoming partner.

Velton is admitted to practice in California and to the Ninth Circuit. He has been active in professional groups for many years. He is a founder of the Eastern European Bar Association, a role he began in 2007 and continues to hold. He joined the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, the California Employment Lawyers Association, and the Santa Clara County Bar Association in 2011, and maintains memberships in each.

His approach in the courtroom is straightforward. He prepares thoroughly, seeks to limit surprises for clients, and pursues remedies through motion practice and trial when appropriate. He continues to handle appeals in the Ninth Circuit as part of his caseload.

He maintains his practice at Velton Zegelman and handles both trial and appellate matters in employment and related civil litigation. His current practice focuses on employment law and civil litigation matters.
