About Daniel T.
Daniel T. Geherin began his academic path at Michigan State University, where he earned a B.S. in Humanities/Pre-Law in 1993. The degree laid a broad foundation in critical reading, writing and analysis. He turned those skills to the study and practice of law shortly thereafter.
His first public-sector legal job came in Los Angeles. In 1996 he served as a deputy district lawyer in the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. That role gave him day-to-day courtroom experience and exposure to a steady stream of criminal matters. It was an early, hands-on education in trial work.
Three years later he opened his own practice. In 1999 he founded the Law Offices of Daniel T. Geherin, PLLC. That firm handled a mix of criminal defense assignments and related litigation. In 2007 he joined a partnership, SIMON & GEHERIN, PLLC, where he handled more complex criminal cases and expanded trial responsibilities. In 2018 he launched Geherin Law Group, PLLC and has led it since. Through those transitions he moved between solo practice, partnership and firm leadership.
Geherin holds board certification as a Criminal Trial Lawyer from the National Board of Trial Advocacy. That credential reflects a sustained record of courtroom work and peer review tied to criminal trials. He is admitted to practice in both California and Michigan; his California bar membership dates to 1996.
Beyond casework, he has taken roles in continuing legal education circles. He has served on the advisory board for the Michigan Institute of Continuing Legal Education, Criminal Law, since 2017. He has been involved with advisory activities at the Institute of Continuing Legal Education since 2016 and sits on the advisory board for Leading Lawyers in criminal defense beginning in 2016. He is also a long-time member of the State Bar of California, active since 1996.
Colleagues and clients will note that Geherin’s career is organized around courtroom practice. He moved from public prosecution into private defense and has remained focused on trials. His firms have handled a mix of misdemeanor and felony defense work and related litigation matters. He continues to try cases and supervise trial preparation at his current firm.
He maintains an active practice at Geherin Law Group, PLLC where he handles criminal defense and trial matters.
