About Daniel S.
Daniel S. Chavez earned a Bachelor of Science in political science from the University of North Texas in 2012. He went on to complete his legal training at Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2016. While in law school he pursued training in alternative dispute resolution and holds a mediator certification from Thurgood Marshall.
Chavez’s connection to G.J. Chavez & Associates, P.C. stretches back to the early years of his legal path. He worked for the firm as a legal assistant beginning in 2010, gaining front-line exposure to case preparation and client intake. That early work preceded his formal legal education and helped shape his approach to practice. After earning his law degree, he returned to the firm and in 2019 took on the role of associate lawyer.
His professional memberships reflect a practice centered on criminal defense. He is a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Collin County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Dallas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He also holds membership in the Dallas Bar Association. Those affiliations tie him to regional and state-level networks of defense lawyers and provide regular opportunities for continuing education and court-level coordination.
Chavez’s experience at a single firm across different roles has given him a practical view of litigation work. He has worked on case preparation, client interviews and courtroom matters while learning the procedural demands of Texas courts. His mediator training adds another layer to his skill set, allowing him to approach disputes with an eye toward resolution when appropriate.
Colleagues describe Chavez as methodical in preparation and straightforward in courtroom presentation. He blends hands-on experience from the firm’s support roles with the responsibilities of an associate attorney. That combination shapes how he evaluates cases and advises clients about risks and options.
Today Chavez practices at G.J. Chavez & Associates, P.C. in Texas. He represents clients in criminal defense matters and participates in local and state professional groups that address practices and policy in criminal law. His current practice concentrates on defending clients in Texas courts.
