About Daniel James
Daniel James Vondra earned his law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2001. He left law school as the new millennium turned and began a legal career rooted in Iowa. That educational foundation tied him to the state's legal community early on.
Soon after graduation he gained admission to practice in Iowa and to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Those admissions have allowed him to appear in state courts and handle matters that reach the federal appellate level. Over the years he has maintained a practice that crosses those jurisdictional lines.
Vondra’s career spans more than two decades. During that time he has guided clients through contested proceedings and routine filings. He has worked in courtroom settings and in conferences outside the courthouse. Colleagues describe him as steady and methodical. He tends to focus on careful case preparation and practical problem solving rather than broad pronouncements.
His work style is straightforward. He lays out options, evaluates risks, and pursues the path clients authorize. He has managed cases from initial intake through motion practice and, when necessary, appellate briefing. That experience has made him familiar with the procedures and expectations of both the Iowa state court system and the Eighth Circuit.
Vondra keeps an office at 745 Community Dr., and he meets clients there for consultations and follow-up matters. In the years since he left the University of Iowa College of Law, he has remained active in the courtroom and at the appellate level. His practice handles matters in Iowa courts and includes work before the Eighth Circuit. As of 2026 his practice focuses on representing clients in Iowa courts and in matters before the Eighth Circuit.
