About Daniel J.

Daniel J. Eccher built a path to law that began in the sciences and public health. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Vassar College in 1996 and went on to complete a Master of Public Health in epidemiology and biostatistics at Boston University in 1999. After several years working outside the law he returned to school and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Maine School of Law in 2014.

His legal career began immediately after law school. He worked as an associate at Weeks & Hutchins, LLC in 2014 and moved into public service the following year as an assistant attorney general in the Maine Office of the Attorney General. In 2016 he launched his own practice as principal of Eccher Law, LLC. The next year he took on a leadership role as managing shareholder at Levey, Wagley, Putman & Eccher, PA.

Those positions gave him experience on both sides of the courtroom. At the Attorney General’s office he handled matters that exposed him to state government litigation and regulatory work. In private practice he represented individuals and organizations in disputes in Maine courts and in federal proceedings. He has also handled appellate matters, and he is admitted to practice in Maine and before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in the way he prepares cases and clear in his courtroom presentations. He has maintained professional ties through membership in the American Bar Association since 2014 and the Maine State Bar Association since 2012. Those affiliations reflect an ongoing engagement in the legal community rather than specific leadership posts.

He keeps an office on Main Street in downtown, maintaining a local presence for clients who need in-person consultations. His track record combines public-sector litigation experience and private-practice case work, and he has moved between those settings more than once over the course of his career. He concentrates his practice on litigation and appellate matters in Maine and before the First Circuit.
