About Daniel
Daniel Graves built the foundations of his legal career in Tulsa. He earned a B.A. from the University of Tulsa in 1991 and returned to the same campus for his J.D., which he completed at the University of Tulsa College of Law in 1995. Law school shaped his approach to litigation. It also connected him to the legal community he would continue to serve.
After graduating, he entered private practice and established a courtroom-oriented practice. He is admitted to practice in Oklahoma and is authorized to appear before the United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit and the Federal Circuit. Those admissions have allowed him to handle matters that range from contested trials in state courts to appellate briefing and argument at the federal level.
Graves’s work centers on civil litigation. He has pursued claims in both state and federal fora and has been involved in cases that progressed beyond initial filings to hearings, trials and appeals. The record of appearances in multiple forums reflects a practice that engages the procedural and substantive dimensions of complex disputes. He combines courtroom preparation with an attention to appellate strategy when cases move beyond the trial court.
He is active in professional organizations. He belongs to the American Bar Association, the Oklahoma Bar Association and the Tulsa County Bar Association. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Association for Justice and is a member of the American Association for Justice. His memberships also include the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, associations that bring together attorneys who have handled high-value matters.
Colleagues and court calendars show a steady docket of contested matters. Graves has taken cases through discovery, motion practice and trial phases, and has prepared appellate briefs when necessary. He approaches each matter with an emphasis on identifying the key legal questions and preparing them for the forum in which they will be decided. That practical orientation guides how he allocates time between investigation, negotiation and litigation.
He maintains an office at Graves McLain and practices alongside a team that manages a mix of trial and appellate matters. His current practice concentrates on civil litigation in Oklahoma and on appeals before the 10th Circuit and the Federal Circuit.
