About Daniel A.

Daniel A. McGowan built his legal foundation in classroom and courtroom. He earned a B.A. in political science from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in 1991, then completed his J.D. at Cleveland State University Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1994. Those years left him with a traditional legal education and an early path into litigation.

Soon after law school he joined the bar in Ohio. He served in roles that moved him between private practice and the insurance industry. In 2002 he took a position as litigation manager at CNA Insurance Company, a role that placed him on the operational side of disputes and exposed him to large-scale claims handling. Two years later he became a partner at the Law Offices of Adrian Philip Thomas, P.A., where he continued in litigation and client representation. In 2016 he opened the Law Offices of Daniel McGowan, LLC and has practiced under that name since.

Throughout his career he has kept a presence in multiple jurisdictions. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida. His federal admissions include the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Florida and the Middle and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and in the 3rd and 11th Circuits. Those admissions reflect a mix of state and federal practice that has allowed him to handle matters across different courts and procedural settings.

McGowan’s professional associations map onto that diverse practice. He holds memberships in the Ohio State Bar Association (since 1994) and The Florida Bar (since 2012). He is active in local and specialty groups including the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, the Broward County Bar Association, the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Florida Justice Association. He is a member of the Stephen R. Booher American Inn of Court, the Estate Planning Council of Cleveland and the National Lawyers Guild. Earlier in his career he belonged to the Cuyahoga Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.

Colleagues describe a lawyer who has moved between insurer-side work and private defense practice, bringing procedural familiarity and trial experience to client matters. He has handled litigation management and courtroom representation in several settings, drawing on his years in both corporate and small-firm environments. He maintains offices under the Law Offices of Daniel McGowan, LLC and practices across the jurisdictions to which he is admitted. His current practice handles criminal defense and civil litigation matters.
