About Dan
Dan Robinson brings a nontraditional path to the law. He earned a B.A. in music and electrical engineering from Rice University in 1986, then returned to school for his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School, which he completed in 2007.
Robinson began his legal career in the federal courthouse. He served as a law clerk to the Honorable Virginia A. Phillips of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in 2007. That experience preceded a position as an associate at Covington & Burling LLP in 2008, where he worked on matters handled by a national firm. His résumé later includes roles at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP in 2015 and at Lombardi & Donohue in 2017. In 2019 he began operating as a solo practitioner and now maintains an office under the name Dan Robinson P.C.
Over the years Robinson has maintained memberships in a number of professional organizations. He has been active in the Jerome H. Berenson Inn of the American Inns of Court since 2018. He also holds memberships in the Ventura County Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, both since 2017. Earlier in his career he was a member of the Bar Association of San Francisco from 2008 until 2018.
His admissions list includes the State of California and two federal appellate courts: the Ninth Circuit and the Federal Circuit. Those admissions reflect work that has touched both trial and appellate settings. Colleagues describe him as someone who is comfortable in a courtroom and familiar with the procedural demands of federal practice.
Clients and peers encounter a lawyer who balances large-firm training with the autonomy of solo practice. His career spans clerking for a federal judge, handling matters at national firms, and running his own practice. That mix has shaped how he approaches case preparation and litigation strategy.
Robinson’s office, Dan Robinson P.C., handles cases in state and federal courts. He continues to represent clients in California and participates in matters before the Ninth Circuit and the Federal Circuit. He currently focuses his practice on litigation matters in California and in the federal courts where he is admitted.
