Dan George McKinney is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in both California and Oregon. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1981 and the Oregon State Bar in 1996. Mr. McKinney earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, graduating with distinction and as a member of the Order of the Coif in 1981. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate studies at George Mason University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978. During his time at McGeorge School of Law, he was recognized for his academic excellence and was inducted into the Order of the Coif, an honor society for law graduates.

In California, he is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California. In Oregon, he is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon. He has also been admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. Prior to his tenure at McKinney & Sperry PC, he was a senior attorney with Reid & Hellyer, APC, in Riverside, California, from 1981 to 2003.
Mr. McKinney is an active member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA). He has served as the president of the Riverside County Bar Association in 1994 and the Douglas County Bar Association in 2006. He has also been a lecturer on real estate law at the University of California and has presented programs on real estate law for the California State Bar and the American Bar Association. Additionally, he currently serves as an instructor of real estate law at Umpqua Community College in Oregon. Mr. McKinney is fluent in English and has a working knowledge of Spanish, allowing him to serve a diverse clientele effectively.
