About Dan
Dan DeBias earned his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in 2017 after beginning his studies there in 2013. He returned to a firm where he had longstanding ties. His legal education followed several years in a law office environment and set the stage for his transition from support staff to licensed attorney.
He began working at Horwitz Horwitz & Associates as a paralegal in 2007. That early experience put him inside a busy practice and exposed him to case preparation, client intake and the daily mechanics of litigation support. After law school he moved back into the firm in a different role. In 2018 he took on the responsibilities of a lawyer at Horwitz Horwitz & Associates and was admitted to the Illinois bar that year.
The arc of his career shows a steady progression through the same firm. Starting in a support capacity and returning as counsel gave him a practical sense of how cases develop over time. He has handled client communications, prepared filings and worked on matters that required close coordination with colleagues. Those day-to-day tasks have formed the backbone of his early legal practice.
Colleagues and supervisors describe him as someone who understands the firm’s processes and the pressures of a high-volume practice. He has kept ties to the firm across roles and years. That continuity has allowed him to move into courtroom and client-facing duties without losing sight of case management and the preparatory work that underpins litigation.
Outside the office, he maintains professional ties that date to his admission to the bar in 2018. He remains licensed in Illinois and practices at the same firm where he built his early career. His background as a paralegal informs how he organizes files and prepares materials for hearings and settlements.
DeBias’s path is rooted in a single legal community. He spent formative years behind the scenes and then returned to the front lines of representation. He currently practices at Horwitz Horwitz & Associates, representing clients in the matters handled by the firm.
