David Leonardo "D.L." Rencher is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 2002. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Rencher is the managing attorney at Rencher Law Group, P.C., a law firm located at 1438 Market Street, First Floor, San Francisco, CA 94102. He has been practicing law for over 20 years, serving clients throughout California, with offices in both San Francisco and San Diego.
Mr. Rencher earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings College of the Law), where he graduated in 2002. During his time at Hastings, he was a member of the Trial Team and received the Moot Court Award for "Best Oral Advocate." He also served as a Teaching Assistant in the Legal Education Opportunity Program (LEOP) and interned at the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office, specializing in opposing suppression motions in Driving Under the Influence (DUI) cases. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Los Angeles, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology in 1999.
Mr. Rencher concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury law, wrongful death, and elder abuse. He represents individuals and families in matters involving auto accidents, bicycle accidents, commercial truck accidents, pedestrian accidents, rideshare accidents, catastrophic injuries, and nursing home abuse. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including pre-litigation settlement, litigation, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts. Notably, he secured one of California's ten largest wrongful death settlements in 2020, obtaining a high seven-figure recovery for the family of a 69-year-old man killed by a commercial vehicle driver.
Throughout his career, Mr. Rencher has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of San Francisco, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding Rencher Law Group, P.C., he worked as a district attorney and a criminal defense attorney, defending healthcare professionals and medical institutions. This experience provided him with valuable insight into defense strategies, which now informs his approach to plaintiff representation.
Mr. Rencher is an active member of the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association. He has been recognized by The National Trial Lawyers as a Top 100 Trial Lawyer for five consecutive years. He is also a member of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Rencher is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve a diverse clientele effectively.
