About D. Chris

D. Chris Hesse built a legal foundation in the classrooms of the University of Oklahoma and Texas Tech University School of Law. He completed his undergraduate degree at Oklahoma in 1999 and earned his J.D. from Texas Tech in 2006. Those years shaped his approach to advocacy and gave him the academic grounding he brought to courtroom work.

After law school he settled into practice in Texas. He holds admission to the Texas bar and is authorized to appear before the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Over time he took on a mixture of state and federal matters. He became involved in criminal defense circles and in court-appointed roles that required careful attention to procedural detail and client care.

Hesse’s professional affiliations track that path. He maintains membership in the State Bar of Texas and the Federal Southern District of Texas. He is part of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Texas State Bar Criminal Justice Section, and the Panhandle Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. Those ties reflect steady engagement with colleagues and continuing education in criminal law practice.

He also carries certification as a Guardian Ad Litem through the State Bar of Texas. That role brought him into family court contexts and into cases where an independent advocate is necessary to represent the interests of minors. It added another dimension to his courtroom experience and to his understanding of how criminal and family matters sometimes intersect.

In the courtroom Hesse has handled a range of matters, shifting between state and federal dockets. He has represented clients at arraignments, hearings, and trials. He has also worked on appellate matters attributable to his admissions to higher courts. Colleagues describe him as methodical. Clients often cite his readiness to explain legal options in plain terms.

He practices from the Law Offices of D. Chris Hesse. The office serves clients across jurisdictions where he is admitted and provides direct representation in criminal defense and related proceedings. He continues to participate in local and state bar groups and in professional organizations that address evolving criminal justice issues. His current practice focuses on criminal defense and court-appointed advocacy at the Law Offices of D. Chris Hesse.
