About Cynthia E

Cynthia E Lewis trained at Florida A&M University College of Law, where she earned her J.D. in 2007. Her time in law school coincided with a period of growth at the school and an expanding focus on public service and access to justice. Those interests carried into her early career and shaped the kinds of matters she pursued after passing the bar in Florida.

She entered practice handling consumer financial matters and bankruptcy cases. Over the years she has built a practice that addresses the everyday legal problems people face when debt becomes unmanageable. Her work has ranged from routine filings to contested matters, and she has represented debtors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 proceedings. She also has experience negotiating with creditors and counseling clients on the practical consequences of bankruptcy choices.

Lewis earned board certification in Consumer Bankruptcy from the American Board of Certification. That credential marks her concentration in consumer bankruptcy practice. It also signals specialized training and examination in that area of law. She has used that knowledge in court appearances and in advising clients on case strategy, estate administration questions, and repayment plans.

Her courtroom work includes appearances in state and federal bankruptcy courts in Florida. She has handled both procedural and substantive issues that commonly arise in consumer insolvency matters, such as claim objections, plan confirmation matters, and motion practice. In other matters she has advised clients on alternatives to bankruptcy, including negotiated settlements and debt resolution options outside of formal filings.

Lewis is currently an attorney at Lewis & Monroe, PLLC. At the firm she works on consumer bankruptcy filings and related litigation, and she counsels individuals on debt management and financial restructuring. Her practice combines courtroom representation with client counseling, aiming to give people clear options during difficult financial decisions.

Colleagues describe her approach as practical and client-minded. She is known for explaining complex bankruptcy procedures in plain terms and for guiding clients through each step of a case. Her work continues in Florida, where she handles consumer bankruptcy and related consumer-credit issues in her current practice focus.
