About Cynthia Barron
Cynthia Barron Mead earned her undergraduate degree in English from the University of California, Davis in 1978. She went on to attend Harvard Law School, receiving her J.D. in 1985. Those academic years set the stage for a legal career that later turned toward the needs of older adults and their families.
Mead moved into elder law in 2009 when she began practicing at The Mead Law Office, LLC. Her switch into this area followed decades of legal work that prepared her for the complex financial and personal issues that arise as clients age. She practices in Georgia and has maintained an active role in the legal community since the mid-1980s.
Her work as an elder law attorney spans a range of matters commonly encountered by senior clients and their families. She handles estate planning, including wills and trusts, as well as planning for long-term care and addressing Medicaid eligibility. Guardianship and conservatorship petitions, special needs planning and assistance with veterans’ benefits have all been part of the portfolio she offers to clients. In court and at the drafting table, she deals with both the legal documents and the practical steps that families must take when planning for incapacity or the financial consequences of long-term care.
Mead’s professional affiliations reflect a steady involvement in elder law circles. She has been a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys since 2010 and is a charter member of ElderCounsel from 2009 onward. She also notes continuous membership in professional organizations dating back to 1985.
In practice she seeks to provide clear options and a steady process for people navigating difficult transitions. Her office, The Mead Law Office, LLC, serves clients in Georgia and focuses on planning tools that address both legal and financial risk for seniors. She currently concentrates her practice on elder law matters, including estate planning, Medicaid planning, long-term care arrangements and related probate and guardianship work.
