About Craig
Craig Pierson built a legal path that began in the classroom and extended into both public service and private practice. He earned his J.D. from Tulane University School of Law in 1992 after completing a B.A. in English at Kenyon College in 1987. He is licensed to practice in Illinois.
His early career took a few different turns. In 1995 he worked as a sports agent for RMG Sports Management. Two years later he entered public-sector work as an Assistant State's Lawyer in Lake County. He moved into private practice in 2000 as an associate at Christensen & Ehret. That role led to partnership positions: he became a partner at Kennedy Pierson & Strachan in 2004 and took on a partner title at Pierson & Strachan P.C. in 2011.
Pierson’s professional life has been balanced between office and community work. Since 2006 he has served as chairman of the Lake Bluff Police and Fire Commission, a position he continues to hold. He also led the Croya Foundation as president from 2006 until 2010. Those roles have kept him engaged with local governance and nonprofit oversight alongside his private practice responsibilities.
Over the years Pierson has accumulated experience across different legal settings. His resume spans sports management, county-level public service, association with established law firms, and long-term partnership at a private firm. That variety has exposed him to institutional processes in government and the operational demands of private law practice. Colleagues and clients have noted his steady presence in courtroom calendars, firm management and community boards, where an understanding of procedure and local institutions matters.
Today he is a partner at Pierson & Strachan P.C. and continues to handle matters arising in Illinois. He practices from that office and maintains involvement in local boards and community organizations while conducting his work at the firm.
