About Craig
Craig Fugate's academic record traverses technical and business disciplines before arriving at law. He earned a B.A. in Computer Science and Economics from DePauw University in 1998. He went on to law school at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, completing a J.D. in 2007 after studies that included business law and tax law. He also holds an MBA from Indiana University/Purdue University at Indianapolis and later added an M.S. from Butler University.
He began his legal career as an associate at Church Church Hittle & Antrim in 2006. That early experience exposed him to firm practice and client work in a general litigation and advisory setting. By 2010 he had launched his own practice, listed as Fugate Legal, and took on the responsibilities of firm leadership. The move from associate to founder reflects a quick shift into practice management and client development.
Over the next decade Fugate built that practice into a small firm platform. In 2020 the firm operated under the name Fugate Gangstad, with Fugate serving as managing partner. Three years later the partnership evolved again to Fugate Gangstad Lowe, where he continues to hold a managing partner role. These changes track a pattern of growth and transitions in firm structure and personnel.
His education informs the shape of his work. Training in computer science and economics sits alongside formal study in business, finance and tax. That combination appears in the matters he handles and the advice he gives. Colleagues describe an attorney who brings technical literacy to commercial problems and who understands how finance and tax considerations intersect with corporate decisions.
Fugate is admitted to practice in Indiana and Wisconsin. He is a member of the American Bar Association and maintains memberships in other professional organizations. His career includes both client service and the operational duties of running a firm: staffing, partner alignment and strategic decisions about practice areas.
He remains based at Fugate Gangstad and continues to supervise firm matters while handling client work himself. His current practice centers on business and corporate matters, including transactional work and tax-related issues, informed by a background in finance and technology.
