About Courtney

Courtney Redman is an attorney who has moved between public service, financial institutions and private practice. Her career shows a steady shift from prosecution to financial investigations and then to running her own practice while teaching law.

Redman earned her Bachelor of Arts in political science from Howard University in 2001. She went on to study law at The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law, completing her J.D. in 2008. Those formative years set the stage for a career that touches both criminal law and complex financial compliance.

Her first notable post after law school was in Brooklyn. In 2009 she joined the Kings County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Lawyer. She prosecuted cases there and gained courtroom experience. That period gave her a practical grounding in criminal procedure and trial practice.

A decade later she moved into the private sector. In 2017 Redman took a role at Morgan Stanley as Director and AML Investigations Supervisor. The position involved overseeing anti-money-laundering inquiries and coordinating investigative responses. It was a shift from courtroom work to a regulatory and compliance environment, and it expanded her expertise in financial investigations.

In 2020 she founded The Law Office of Courtney W. Redman, Esq. That step marked her entry into solo practice. She later served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of La Verne College of Law in 2021 and returned there as a Visiting Professor in 2022. In the same year she also worked as a Managing Lawyer at The Kavinoky Law Office. Teaching and practice have run in parallel for Redman, each informing the other.

Her bar memberships include the New York State Bar, which she joined in 2009, and admission in California. That dual licensing reflects work across two jurisdictions and allows her to handle matters that cross state lines.

Colleagues and students know her as a lawyer who moves comfortably between litigation, internal corporate investigations and classroom discussion. She applies experiences from the district attorney’s office and from financial services to advise clients on investigative and compliance challenges. She currently focuses her practice on matters involving investigations, regulatory compliance and criminal defense.
