About Courtney H.
Courtney H. Carpenter earned a Bachelor of Science from Kennesaw State University in 2006, majoring in political science and taking a minor in psychology. She continued her legal education at Emory University School of Law and received her J.D. in 2010. Those academic years shaped the analytical and writing skills she uses in practice.
After law school Carpenter established her legal practice in Georgia. She is admitted to practice in that state and has built a career representing clients in matters governed by Georgia law. Early work after Emory exposed her to courtroom procedure, document drafting and client counseling, which remain central to her approach.
Carpenter has maintained ties to the broader legal community. She has been a member of the American Bar Association since 2011. That affiliation has given her access to continuing legal education and national discussion on best practices, which she applies to her work in state matters.
She is currently part of Meriwether & Tharp, LLC. At the firm she works from the firm’s main office and its Atlanta and Canton locations. Her role at Meriwether & Tharp involves representing individuals and businesses in state-level proceedings and advising on legal obligations under Georgia statutes. Her practice involves appearing in court, negotiating on behalf of clients and preparing the written materials that underpin litigation and transactions.
Colleagues describe Carpenter as methodical in preparing cases and steady in courtroom settings. She blends the casework she developed early in her career with ongoing professional development obtained through bar association resources. That mix of hands-on experience and continuing education supports the practical work she does every day.
Outside of casework, Carpenter spends time updating legal knowledge and mentoring newer members of her firm when schedules allow. She balances client deadlines with work on procedural and substantive matters that affect how cases are handled in Georgia courts. Her courtroom experience, transactional drafting and counseling form the daily core of her practice.
Courtney H. Carpenter’s current practice is based in Georgia at Meriwether & Tharp, LLC, where she focuses on representing clients in state matters and handling related litigation and transactional work.
