About Cory
Cory Yager grew up far from the courtroom but found his way into law through study and steady practice. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York at Oneonta in 1999 and took his law degree from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School in 2007. He joined the Georgia bar the same year and has maintained his membership since.
His first professional post after law school was as an associate at William C. Head PC, where he began in 2007. He spent several years there building courtroom experience and handling criminal matters. In 2014 he moved into partnership at Kohn & Yager. The change marked a shift to a leadership role in a smaller firm setting and to handling a wider array of cases and trial work.
Yager’s professional interests are concentrated in criminal defense, with particular attention to impaired-driving cases. He is a certified SFST Instructor for Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. He also completed a Forensic Laboratory Training Course covering blood and urine analysis through Headlines Marketing Corporation. Those credentials inform his work at trial and during evidentiary hearings.
Collegial ties have been part of his professional life. He has been a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National College for DUI Defense since 2007. In 2015 he was among the founding members of DUIDLA, an organization aimed at practitioners who handle driving-under-the-influence litigation. He remains active in these circles and participates in continuing education and practice-oriented exchanges.
In court, Yager is known for a direct style. He prepares witnesses and challenges forensic evidence when circumstances permit. He handles pretrial motions and trials and has experience in both state and local courtrooms across Georgia. He also trains others on sobriety testing procedures and evidence issues tied to blood and urine analysis.
He is listed as a partner at Kohn & Yager, where he continues to work on criminal and DUI matters. He combines courtroom practice with instructor-level training in field sobriety testing and forensic evidence, and he remains active in state and national defense organizations.
He currently represents clients in criminal and DUI cases at Kohn & Yager.
