About Cory J.H.
Cory J.H. Crenshaw grew up academically inclined toward history and the law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from Baylor University in 2001 and completed his Juris Doctor at Texas Tech University School of Law in 2004. Those years set the stage for a career that has moved between prosecution, the bench, teaching and private practice.
Early in his legal career he served as a law clerk at the Texas Court of Appeals, Ninth District, in 2003. He then took a position with the Brazos County district office in 2005, where he worked in a prosecutorial capacity. That ground-level courtroom work led to roles in the federal system. He spent time in the U.S. Attorney’s offices in the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas, beginning in 2010 in the southern district and later in the eastern district in 2012. Those years provided substantial trial experience and exposure to a wide range of federal matters.
Crenshaw’s path continued back into county-level service. In 2014 he joined the Jefferson County district office. The following year he was elevated to preside over Jefferson County Court at Law No. 2. He has also taught criminal justice as an adjunct professor at Lamar University, a role he took up in 2013 and used to bring courtroom perspective into the classroom.
In 2016 he moved into private practice as managing partner of Crenshaw Law Office, PLLC. Alongside his firm work he has been active in bar and civic organizations. He holds fellow status in the Texas Bar Foundation and is a member of the American Inns of Court Mehaffey Chapter, the Jefferson County Bar Association, the Texas District and County Attorneys Association and the Brazos County Bar Association. He has served as a delegate for the National Association of Assistant United States Attorneys in the Eastern District of Texas and has been on the board of the 100 Club of Southeast Texas since 2014.
Crenshaw’s résumé reflects film-like shifts between prosecutor, judge, teacher and private counsel. He remains licensed in Texas and draws on those varied roles in his courtroom work. He is currently the managing partner at Crenshaw Law Office, PLLC, and his practice focuses on litigation that builds on his years as a prosecutor and judge.
