About Cory Alexander
Cory Alexander Birnberg is a attorney specializing in admiralty and maritime law, based in San Francisco, California. He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1982. In 2009, he became one of the first two attorneys to be certified as Admiralty Specialists by the State Bar of California.
In 1984, Cory founded Birnberg & Associates, a firm dedicated to representing longshore and maritime workers, as well as Jones Act seamen, fishermen, ship repairers, and sailors. The firm has handled maritime cases in various states, including Hawaii, Washington, Alaska, Texas, Oregon, Louisiana, and Florida. Cory earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles.
He obtained his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles and later completed a Master of Laws in Admiralty at Tulane University School of Law. Since 2000, Cory has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, teaching a course in admiralty and maritime subjects, including the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act. He has been recognized for his expertise in admiralty and maritime law, with over 20 published maritime cases, including one California Supreme Court opinion.
