About Corey Patrick

Corey Patrick Hanrahan earned a B.A. in sociology from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities before completing his J.D. at California Western School of Law in 2007. He moved into practice shortly after law school and built a courtroom-based career that has stretched over a decade and a half. His academic background in sociology informs how he reads people and situations at trial, and his legal training supplied the tools to test those impressions under pressure.

Hanrahan began his legal career in 2008 at Gruenberg Law, where he worked as an associate lawyer. The early years of his practice provided steady exposure to litigation. He handled matters that required courtroom preparation, client interviews and case strategy. Those formative experiences shaped the matter-management habits he still uses today: careful preparation, clear lines of communication and a willingness to try cases when that is the best path for a client.

In 2014 he founded The Hanrahan Firm and took on the role of owner and trial lawyer. Establishing his own firm allowed him to steer both case selection and courtroom approach. He shifted from working under a larger umbrella to running a practice where he personally oversees trials and the day-to-day handling of matters. Running a small firm also means he remains closely involved in each phase of cases, from initial intake through resolution or trial.

Colleagues and clients describe him as a lawyer who prefers to prepare cases thoroughly and to present them plainly in court. He has prioritized courtroom work throughout his career. That emphasis shows in how he staffs matters and schedules pretrial work. He favors direct examination that keeps jurors engaged and cross-examination that seeks clear, decisive answers rather than theatrical flourishes.

Outside the docket, Hanrahan has kept ties to the legal community he entered in 2008. He has maintained professional relationships across firms and courts and participates in local legal events and continuing education. Those connections help him stay current on procedural developments and case law that affect trial practice.

Today he continues to lead The Hanrahan Firm and to try cases in California courts. His practice centers on courtroom advocacy and trial work, and he remains in active practice handling matters that proceed to trial as well as those resolved earlier through negotiation or motion practice.
