About Corey I.
Corey I. Cohen earned his law degree from Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law in 2003. He completed his legal education after attending the university in the years leading up to his degree. The law school years shaped his interest in courtroom work and public service.
He began his legal career in public service, working in Seminole County in 2003 as a state lawyer. That early experience placed him in the courthouse on a regular basis and exposed him to the pace and demands of trial practice. In 2005 he opened a private practice under his own name, creating The Law Office of Corey Cohen, where he moved from government work into private representation.
Cohen is admitted to practice in Florida and holds admission to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. He maintains membership in the Florida Bar and has litigated matters in both state and federal venues. His peers in Seminole County elected him to lead their local bar association; he served as President of the Seminole County Bar Association in 2017. That role involved coordinating programs for local attorneys and representing the association in community and court-related forums.
Over the course of his career he has balanced courtroom responsibilities with the management of a small firm. He has represented individual clients and businesses in proceedings that require appearances in state courts and in the federal district where he is admitted. He is known around the courthouse for a direct style and pragmatic approach to resolving disputes. He also continues to handle the administrative and client-service duties that come with running an independent practice.
Cohen’s practice in recent years has remained anchored in Central Florida. He splits his time between court appearances and client consultations, and he continues to accept matters that fall within his admissions. He currently practices at The Law Office of Corey I. Cohen, representing clients in Florida state courts and in the Middle District of Florida federal court.
