About Corey A.

Corey A. Rasmussen began his academic path in accounting and finance before turning to law. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Kansas State University, followed by a Master of Science in Accounting from the same institution. He later received his Juris Doctor from the University of Tulsa College of Law. That mix of finance, accounting and legal training informs much of his work.

Early in his career Rasmussen moved between disciplines. The accounting background gave him a practical grasp of numbers and records. Law school added procedure and advocacy. That combination shaped the kinds of matters he takes on and how he manages them. It also prepared him for the courtroom and for handling complex estate and probate files that often raise tax and fiduciary questions.

Rasmussen opened Rasmussen Law in 2011 and has led the firm since then. He is admitted to practice in Kansas and Missouri and holds admission to appear before the Supreme Court of the United States. Locally, he has taken on leadership roles in the bar. He served as Vice-Chair of the Probate Section of the Johnson County Kansas Bar Association in 2017 and was Chair of that same section in 2018. Those roles involved organizing educational programs and advising peers on probate procedure and practice in the county.

Colleagues describe him as methodical and thorough when sorting estate inventories, preparing accountings, or guiding personal representatives through deadlines and filings. His prior training in accounting helps in tracing assets and evaluating fiduciary duties. He handles contested matters as well as the routine administration of estates. The record shows regular participation in bar activities and continuing education focused on probate topics.

Clients who work with Rasmussen typically encounter a lawyer who prefers clear explanations and deliberate pacing. He aims to translate technical rules into plain terms. He balances attention to paperwork with courtroom readiness when litigation is necessary. His practice blends transactional work—drafting and advising—with advocacy where disputes arise.

Rasmussen remains active in the Johnson County legal community and maintains membership in professional courts and associations, including admission to the U.S. Supreme Court. He continues to lead Rasmussen Law and to accept matters that draw on both his legal training and his accounting background. He currently practices at Rasmussen Law, concentrating on probate and estate matters.
