About Colleen
Colleen Scarola blends courtroom experience with courtroom teaching. She has worked as a litigator, a law professor and now leads a small firm. Her practice spans state and federal forums in Illinois and Colorado, including admission to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Illinois.
Scarola earned her J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in 2006. She completed her undergraduate studies at Illinois State University in 2003, receiving a B.A. in English and in Politics and Government. Those academic years set the stage for a career that moves between practice and legal education.
Her early years in practice were spent as a litigation associate. In 2007 she worked at Cremer Spina and in 2008 she joined McVey & Parsky, LLC. Those roles involved day-to-day courtroom preparation, motion practice and trial support. She later returned to academia in adjunct and staff roles, bringing practical skills into the classroom.
Scarola took on teaching and advising roles at The John Marshall Law School and at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. She served as an adjunct professor in 2013 and as a career consultant in 2014. In 2017 she was appointed Visiting Assistant Professor of the Practice at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. That mix of teaching and advising widened her exposure to legal careers and practical skills training.
In 2016 she founded Scarola Law, LLC and has continued to run the firm while maintaining ties to legal education. Her practice benefits from years of litigation work and from experience helping law students and junior attorneys define career paths. She handles matters in state courts and in the federal district courts where she is admitted. Her work draws on litigation preparation, client counseling and courtroom representation across a range of civil matters.
Scarola is a member of both the Colorado State Bar and the Illinois State Bar. She remains active in practicing law through Scarola Law, LLC and represents clients in state and federal courts. Her current practice centers on civil litigation and legal counseling in Illinois and Colorado.
