About Colin
Colin McFerrin built a legal path that moves from science labs to law offices. He studied molecular and cell biology at Texas A&M University, earning a B.S. in 2004. He then turned to law, completing a J.D. at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in 2013. Those two very different educations shape how he approaches problems and evidence.
After law school, McFerrin began practicing in Texas and quickly took on leadership roles. In 2013 he was a managing lawyer at McFerrin & Zayed, PLLC. That early managerial role put him in charge of both client files and the daily work of a small firm. Eight years later he opened his own practice and became the managing lawyer of the Law Office of Colin McFerrin, PLLC in 2021. The move to a solo firm gave him full control over case selection and firm administration.
McFerrin is a member of the State Bar of Texas and has been active in professional groups since the start of his career. He joined the State Bar in 2013 and holds memberships in the American Bar Association, the Texas Aggie Bar Association and the Hays County Bar Association. Those memberships have kept him connected to local and national legal conversations and to colleagues across different practice areas.
His background in molecular and cell biology informs how he reads technical records and assesses factual claims. That training encourages attention to detail and an inclination to test assumptions. In practice he balances legal research and courtroom preparation with the managerial tasks that come from running a small firm. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing files and practical in managing client expectations.
McFerrin lives and works in Texas and focuses his time on handling client matters while overseeing the operations of his firm. He currently practices at the Law Office of Colin McFerrin, PLLC, where he manages the firm's operations and oversees client matters.
