About Colin Delli
Colin Delli Bovi grew up in Montana and built a legal path that returned him to the state’s courts. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from the University of Montana, where he also completed a minor in psychology. He then pursued a law degree, receiving his J.D. from Ohio Northern University in 2013.
After law school, Delli Bovi set up a solo practice. In 2014 he began operating as the Law Office of Colin J. Delli Bovi. Those early years were spent in private practice, taking direct responsibility for casework and courtroom appearances. The solo experience sharpened his trial skills and taught him how to manage every aspect of a case from client intake to post-trial matters.
In 2018 he took a role as defense counsel for the First Judicial District Family Treatment Court. That position placed him at the intersection of criminal defense and family law, working on matters where substance use, parenting, and public safety converge. He represented respondents in a court designed to coordinate treatment and legal supervision, and he handled the procedural and evidentiary questions those dockets bring.
Delli Bovi joined a small firm as partner in 2022. He is listed as a partner at Delli Bovi and Martin, LLC. The move to partnership formalized a collaborative practice model after years of solo work. His peers describe him as steady in court and practical at the negotiating table. He is also an active member of the Montana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, having joined that organization in 2019.
Throughout his career Delli Bovi has handled a range of criminal defense matters. He appears in state court on arraignments, pretrial motions and contested hearings. His time in family treatment court has given him particular experience in cases where criminal charges overlap with child protection concerns and treatment plans. He has represented clients at every phase of litigation and has experience working with treatment providers, probation officers and court administrators.
Outside of courtroom work, Delli Bovi’s practice reflects the realities of running a small firm: client counseling, case management and local court procedure. He maintains his law license in Montana and practices through his firm, balancing courtroom advocacy with the practical tasks of running a practice. He currently focuses his practice on criminal defense and related matters arising in family treatment settings.
