About Colby K
Colby K Sturgeon graduated from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 2018. He took the conventional route from law school into practice in his home state. The law degree and time in Wyoming's legal community have shaped how he approaches cases and client work.
Early in his career Sturgeon built practical courtroom experience. He is admitted to practice in Wyoming and has worked at Jones, Eddington & Sturgeon. At the firm he moved into day-to-day client counseling and case management. His colleagues describe him as methodical in courtroom preparation and clear in client communications.
Sturgeon’s work spans the kinds of matters that come through a regional law firm. He handles filings, briefs, and client meetings. He spends time in state court and in the office drafting documents and advising individuals and businesses. He prioritizes clear explanations so clients understand the tradeoffs that affect their decisions.
He draws on his law school training in evidence and procedure when preparing cases. That training informs how he organizes facts and presents them to judges and opposing counsel. Sturgeon favors practical solutions when the situation allows, and he prepares for trial when cases cannot be resolved short of litigation.
Peers and clients find that he balances technical legal tasks with accessible advice. He tends to break complex issues into straightforward steps. That approach helps clients follow the process and makes it easier to move a matter forward.
Outside of active litigation days, Sturgeon spends time keeping up with developments in Wyoming law. He watches court rulings and regulatory changes that affect his clients. He also works on transactional matters that require careful drafting and attention to statutory detail.
He remains based at Jones, Eddington & Sturgeon, where he represents clients in matters across the firm’s practice areas. He currently practices law at Jones, Eddington & Sturgeon, representing clients in Wyoming courts and before local agencies.
