About Clifford D. Swift
Clifford D. Swift III began his academic path in New Jersey. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Rutgers University in 1988. He went on to law school at Widener University Commonwealth Law School, receiving his J.D. in 1992. Those formative years set the stage for a practice that crosses state and federal lines.
He launched his own practice in 2015. The Law Office of Clifford D. Swift III bears his name and offers a small-firm environment where he carries a full caseload. Since founding the firm he has managed filings, hearings and courtroom appearances, and overseen all phases of litigation for matters that reach both state and federal forums.
Mr. Swift is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He also holds admissions to several federal courts, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the Tenth Circuit, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania and the District of New Jersey. Those admissions allow him to pursue cases that require work across multiple jurisdictions.
Colleagues and opposing counsel describe him as methodical in preparation and straightforward in court. He tends to take a hands-on approach in matters he accepts, overseeing document drafting and oral argument personally. His work includes managing the practical steps of litigation: pleadings, discovery disputes, dispositive motions and trial preparation. He also handles appellate filings where the record and briefing are central to a client’s prospects.
Clients meet directly with him in his office. The practice maintains a focus on litigation practice rather than an array of transactional services. That orientation shapes how the office allocates time and resources: priority goes to courtroom readiness and procedural strategy.
Outside filings and hearings, he has maintained ongoing professional ties to the legal communities in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He keeps current on procedural developments and court rules that affect federal and state practice. He continues to operate the Law Office of Clifford D. Swift III, representing clients in state and federal litigation matters.
