About Cliff

Cliff Williams trained first as a business student and later as a lawyer. He earned a Bachelor of Business Management from the University of Phoenix in 2007 and a J.D. from Texas A&M University School of Law in 2010. Those two degrees framed a career that straddles the technical world of energy landwork and the legal demands that surround it.

His entry into the oil and gas sector came years before law school. He worked as a landman beginning in 1999, a role that put him in the field researching titles, negotiating leases and tracking ownership interests. By 2009 he had taken on a hybrid role at Omimex Group as land manager and legal counsel, combining on-the-ground knowledge of acreage with legal responsibilities.

In 2013 Williams moved into in-house legal work for a multinational, joining Sinochem Oil Company as legal counsel. That position broadened his exposure to cross-border and corporate transactional matters. Two years later he joined Legacy Reserves Operating, LP as senior counsel, a role that included greater responsibility for contracts and corporate legal strategy. He continued in-house work at Guidon Operating, LLC beginning in 2017, advising on matters relevant to exploration and production operations.

Those successive in-house positions reflect a career built on layered experience. Early practical work as a landman informed later legal tasks such as title review, lease negotiation and contract drafting. His record shows steady movement from field roles into legal counsel positions, and then into senior counsel work where he oversaw more complex transactions and relationships with operators, landowners and business partners.

In 2020 Williams opened The Law Office of Cliff Williams. He shifted from corporate legal departments to running his own practice. The office handles matters that draw on his background in both landwork and law. Clients find a practitioner who speaks the technical language of oil and gas and understands the legal issues those operations create.

Across two decades of work in the energy sector, Williams has combined practical land experience with legal practice. He continues to operate The Law Office of Cliff Williams, handling transactional and land-related matters for clients in the oil and gas industry and related fields.
