About Clayton John

Clayton John Fitzsimmons earned his Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University in 2005 and completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Notre Dame in 2008. He finished law school the same year he began practicing law. Those academic credentials set the stage for a practice centered on civil litigation and personal injury matters.

After law school, Fitzsimmons moved into private practice. He established The Fitzsimmons Law Office PLLC in 2008. He is admitted to practice in West Virginia and Ohio, and he holds admission to argue before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Over the years he has handled cases at trial level and in appellate proceedings that required attention to both procedural detail and persuasive written advocacy.

Fitzsimmons has concentrated his practice on personal injury law. He represents individuals who have been injured in automobile collisions, on private property, and in other circumstances where negligence is alleged. He handles investigations, negotiates with insurers, prepares pleadings, and files actions when settlements are not achievable. In several matters he has taken cases through trial or through appeal when necessary, relying on courtroom experience and written briefs.

His work requires juggling discovery deadlines, expert reports, and client expectations. He writes motions and appellate briefs. He examines witnesses and develops case strategies that can be adjusted as facts emerge. Clients describe the legal process as complex. Fitzsimmons aims to explain the next steps clearly, and to outline realistic outcomes based on the law and the record.

Outside the courtroom he has managed the business and administrative demands of running a small law office. That has included client intake systems, case tracking, and coordinating with experts and other counsel. He has represented clients across state and federal forums, and has engaged appellate procedures when cases raised legal questions beyond the trial record.

He continues to practice at The Fitzsimmons Law Office PLLC. He represents clients in personal injury matters and related civil litigation, handling cases in both trial courts and on appeal.
