About Clare

Clare Casas brings a blend of accounting training and legal practice to her work. She completed a B.A. in Accounting at Florida International University in 1998 and stayed on to earn an M.A. in Accounting in 2001. She then turned to law, receiving her J.D. from the University of Miami in 2003.

Her first professional legal role came immediately after law school. In 2003 she joined Legal Services of Greater Miami Inc. as an associate lawyer, handling matters for low-income clients and gaining courtroom experience. Two years later she moved into private practice, becoming a partner at Lanshe and Casas P.A. in 2005. In 2010 she took on a partner role at the Law Offices of Clare Casas.

Casas is admitted to practice in Florida and in federal courts that serve the state. Her admissions include the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the U.S. Tax Court. Her training in accounting informs how she approaches financial disputes and tax-related litigation. She also holds a Certified Public Accountant credential in Washington, currently listed as inactive.

Her practice work has centered on bankruptcy and consumer insolvency matters. She represents individuals and small businesses in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 proceedings, handles adversary proceedings when they arise, and addresses the tax consequences that can accompany bankruptcy filings. She also assists clients with contract disputes and creditor-debtor issues that overlap with insolvency work.

Casas participates in professional organizations that reflect those interests. She maintains memberships in the Broward Bar Association and the Florida Bar. She is active in bankruptcy-focused groups including the American Bankruptcy Institute, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyers, and the Bankruptcy Bar Association of the Southern District of Florida. Those associations provide a forum for court procedure updates and peer discussion.

Her background in accounting and law shapes how she approaches case preparation. She favors careful financial analysis and clear explanation of options for clients who are often dealing with complex paperwork and stress. She balances courtroom advocacy with negotiated resolutions when appropriate. She currently practices at the Law Offices of Clare Casas, where her work concentrates on consumer bankruptcy and related tax issues.
