About Christopher

Christopher Sharkey earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from the University of Texas at Tyler in 1987. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1990. Those academic milestones set the stage for a career that has spanned state and federal practice in Texas.

After law school, Sharkey entered private practice and began handling matters across a range of court settings. Over the years he developed experience in trial work and appellate procedure. He is admitted to practice in Texas and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and that combination has shaped much of his courtroom work.

Sharkey’s early years in practice involved routine civil litigation and courtroom appearances. He learned to manage case preparation, discovery disputes and motion practice. As his caseload evolved, he spent more time drafting appellate briefs and arguing appeals, moving between trial-level advocacy and the distinct demands of the appellate record.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in approach. He aims to identify legal issues that can alter the course of a case and to preserve them for appeal when necessary. In appellate matters he focuses on concise briefing and attention to procedural posture. In trial settings he attends to evidentiary presentation and witness preparation. His litigation work has required coordination with expert witnesses, corporate clients and individual litigants.

Sharkey practices from The Sharkey Law Office. He manages client relations and case strategy at the firm level while handling filings in Texas courts and briefs in the Fifth Circuit. The office concentrates on cases that proceed through trial and those that may require appellate review, and Sharkey often oversees both phases for a single matter.

Outside the courtroom, he has maintained ties to professional networks across the state. He keeps up with appellate decisions that affect local practice and tracks procedural changes in federal and state rules. He also mentors younger lawyers in trial preparation and appellate drafting.

As of 2026, Christopher Sharkey continues to represent clients in Texas state courts and to handle appeals before the Fifth Circuit, maintaining an active practice that spans trial and appellate work.
