Christopher R — Thyer is a attorney and former public official based in Little Rock, Arkansas. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Arkansas State University in 1991 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1995. Upon completing his education, he began his legal career as a solo practitioner in Jonesboro, Arkansas, from 1995 to 1997.
During this period, he also served as a partner at the Mooney Law Firm, P.A., from 1997 to 2005. In 2005, Thyer co-founded Halsey & Thyer, PLC, where he practiced until 2007. That year, he became a partner at Stanley & Thyer, P.A., continuing his legal practice until his appointment as the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas in 2010.
He served in this federal role until his resignation in March 2017. Throughout his tenure as U.S. Attorney, Thyer oversaw significant cases, including the prosecution of a former Little Rock tax preparer who was sentenced to 46 months in prison for preparing fraudulent tax returns.
In addition to his legal practice, Thyer has been active in public service. He served as a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009, representing the 74th District. Thyer is married to Cindy Thyer, who serves as a judge on the Arkansas Court of Appeals.
