About Christopher J.
Christopher J. Berry earned his J.D. from Michigan State University in 2001, where he completed a corporate concentration. He earlier studied at Grand Valley State University, graduating in 1997 with a B.S. in finance and psychology. The combination of business training and an interest in human behavior has influenced how he approaches legal problems.
He began his legal career in Michigan after law school and gravitated toward the areas of estate planning and probate. Early on he pursued additional professional education, completing the Estate Planning and Probate Program offered by the State Bar of Michigan and the Institute of Continuing Legal Education. That formal study reinforced practical skills that are common to handling wills, trusts, and administration of estates.
Berry joined professional associations that align with his practice. He has been a member of the State Bar of Michigan Estate and Probate Section since 2005 and joined WealthCounsel in 2007. Those memberships provide access to continuing education, peer networks, and resources commonly used by attorneys who prepare estate planning documents and advise fiduciaries.
Over the years he has advised clients on planning for incapacity, drafting estate documents, and guiding families through probate proceedings. He draws on his finance background when discussing tax and asset issues and on his psychology background when assisting families facing difficult decisions. His approach emphasizes clear explanations of options and the legal consequences that follow.
Berry practices in Michigan and serves clients from a variety of household and financial circumstances. He handles routine estate administration matters as well as more complex trust arrangements. He also counsels older adults and their families about legal steps they can take to manage health care decisions and long-term care planning.
Today he practices at The Elder Care Firm, where he works alongside other attorneys and professionals addressing elder law and estate planning needs. His professional memberships and continued legal education remain part of his practice routine. He is licensed to practice in Michigan and currently focuses his work on estate planning, probate administration, and legal issues affecting older adults.
